SPARK Hawaii desires to assist preschools that serve children who live on the Wai‘anae Coast. One way of doing so is to provide support for these schools to be accredited. When a preschool is accredited, children whose families are eligible for the State of Hawaii Department of Human Services Open Doors financial subsidies receive an additional subsidy. This year Seagull Kapolei Preschool is working with SPARK Wai‘anae in preparation of an accreditation visit during the summer of 2007. Over fifty percent of their population come from the Wai‘anae Coast. SPARK is able to provide teachers and administration at Seagull Kapolei Preschool with additional workshops, trial accreditation observations, and individual teacher consultation.
