Kūlia I Ka Pono program is a professional development model that:
  • Incorporates academic degree preparation
  • Provides specialized training in early childhood
  • Offers leadership development that is linked to enhanced pedagogy so that positive learning outcomes in children will be developed.
Kūlia I Ka Pono helps provide accessible and affordable educational opportunities in associate’s or bachelor's degree programs that include individualized academic advising and specialized training in early childhood education settings in their own communities, offering tuition scholarships for eligible participants to help remove financial barriers, and resolve articulation issues by collaborating with faculty at public and private degree-granting institutions to remove barriers for students seeking to transfer credit from community colleges to bachelor degree programs.

Kūlia I Ka Pono is a local program started by INPEACE in 2007 as a model for professional development in early childhood education.

The program's mission is to support and develop the educational and leadership needs of upcoming and practicing early childhood educators through culturally based opportunities that enhance pedagogy and improve positive learning outcomes in Native Hawaiian communities.

Kūlia I Ka Pono will address this need through the development and implementation of a comprehensive early childhood education professional development program that is culturally-based.

Kūlia I Ka Pono will address academic and best-practice standards.

Kūlia I Ka Pono will prepare participants for education-related careers in Hawai‘i.

Kūlia I Ka Pono will address the link between enhanced pedagogy and children’s learning outcomes.
