Keiki Steps to Kindergarten (KSTK) is a great way to introduce your child to kindergarten during the summer before the beginning of the new school year. Your child will become acquainted with his/her school and be able to locate the:
Office
Health room
Library
Playground
Cafeteria
Bus pick up
Bathroom
In addition your child will learn school and classroom routines and have made some new friends. Parents can help support their child:
By talking “story” about his/her experiences at KSTK, especially if the child has any questions or feelings about school.
Continue to read to the child everyday
Letting the child know how happy and excited that you are about all the new and exciting things s/he will be learning.
Preparing for school by letting the child take part in getting supplies ready for school.
Continuing to share special times with family and friends.
Acknowledging when the child does a good job, follows directions, shares with others and takes turns.
Attending parent activities at KSTK and making a commitment to attend parent activities through the school year.
Remember...At Keiki Steps to Kindergarten, we want your child to experience a positive entrance to school and increase the chances for a successful school experience.
