Keiki Steps Mission Statement

  • To provide a safe and fun learning environment with culturally enriching experiences that promotes school success for Native Hawaiian children.
  • To support opportunities for growth by developing early childhood practitioners through extensive trainings and professional development.
  • To empower early education teachers and families to lay a foundation that supports their keiki's journey towards school and life success.

Native Hawaiian Children will be ready to learn and achieve to high standards

  • Four times a week Family-Child Interaction Learning Sessions
  • Facilitation of “Parents as the child’s first teacher”
  • 'Ohana Nurturing days
  • Developmental screening through ASQ and ASQ-SE
  • PPVT and Ounce Scale Assessments
  • Implementation of Language is the Key
  • Parent and Keiki Curriculum designed for Family-Child Interaction Learning Programs

The Keiki Steps Program provides FREE

  • Family-child interactive learning experiences for children birth through 5 years.
  • Parent Education.

FOR

  • Children under 5 years old and their families (Preference given to Native Hawaiian Families)
  • Parent/Adult participation required
  • Priority to sponsoring communities
