Our Goals, Mission & Vision

• General goal is to recruit and assist residents of the Wai‘anae Coast seek higher educational opportunities to become teachers in their own communities.
• Mission is to create a supportive career path from high schools and the community, through the community college, into teacher education programs in post-secondary educational institutions with ties to classrooms on the Wai‘anae Coast in an effort to develop a stable core of teachers and increase teacher retention.
• Vision to see Wai‘anae Coast schools staffed by faculty with connections to the Coast, specifically with at least half of the teachers being Native Hawaiian and having current or genealogical ties to the Wai‘anae Coast.

Ka Lama Education Academy Services in

• Recruitment of high school students and community members who aspire to become teachers in the schools in their communities
• Counseling support and advice for individuals who make the commitment to pursue post-secondary education in order to earn a bachelors of education and a license to teach
• Coordination of educational opportunities (courses, tutoring, test taking preparation) and student services (application, registration, financial aid, scholarship, academic, personal, and career counseling) for Ka Lama Education Academy participants
