The participants from Kulia I Ka Pono Program attended Kumu Pa’a, the 10th Annual NHEA Conference on Maui in March.

The workshop was called “Kulia I Ka Pono – Professional Development and Leadership Model.”

Kimberly Mok and Laurene Ganibe presented the model as a new developing statewide comprehensive professional development program for indigenous early childhood educators in rural, Native Hawaiian communities.

Mok says, “The most inspiring and motivational component of the conference was the opportunity I had to break-up into focus groups to kuka’kuka (talk) about the issues we are facing in our NH communities and how I could work towards implementing new ideas in order to bring positive changes within our respective communities.”
