Congratulations to Nalei Arsiga-Faurot for receiving the 2007 Inspirational Educator Award from Kamehameha Schools.  This award recognizes people who are committed to improving the educational well-being of the Hawaiian Community, who demonstrate this commitment through their work, and who inspire others to do the same.

Nalei and her 'ohana have been with INPEACE for over six years.  She started as a participant in the Keiki Steps program and now serves as the site coordinator for Nanakuli.

"I am so excited to see the fruition of the opportunities provided through the Keiki Steps program through Nalei's accomplishment of winning this award!  Her dedication and hard work continues to impact Native Hawaiian Communities and make a difference in the lives of the keiki and families we serve," said Lisa Pakele, Project Director for Keiki Steps.

Nalei is currently working toward an Associates Degree at Leeward Community College where expects to graduate this Spring.

She believes anything is possible and hopes to convey this message to the families she serves.

Her  long term goal is to obtain a Masters Degree in Education while continuing to work with Keiki Steps.  She hopes by furthering her education, she will be able to motive, encourage and serve as a role model for other parents and keiki.
